POC simulation tool

When a new customer enters the pipeline, our goal is to clearly demonstrate the value of our technology.

As product design lead, I drove this 0-to-1 initiative, owning the vision, design, and delivery of a customized tool that demonstrated optimal device deployment and clear customer value.

I collaborate closely with the team to create tailored Proof of Concept (POC) simulations based on each customer’s location and business.
These simulations highlight the ideal deployment strategy for our devices, showing exactly how they can drive results and deliver measurable impact.

Manual code is so old school

Currently, building these simulations requires manual coding, taking up to 1.5 weeks for even basic setups. This slows us down and limits flexibility—making it harder to respond quickly to evolving customer needs.

With our new simulation tool, we are transforming this workflow.
The tool offers a user-friendly interface, drastically reducing the time needed to create a simulation from 1.5 weeks to just a few hours—a

90% reduction in time!

The Design Process

We took an iterative approach to developing the new simulation tool, with a strong focus on usability.

The initial version followed a linear, wizard-style flow, but usability testing revealed it was too rigid and unclear. Users struggled to navigate and needed more guidance.

Based on this feedback, we made major design changes to improve flexibility and clarity.

Flexible, User-Centered Redesign

The updated tool replaced the rigid flow with a flexible, non-linear experience, allowing users to move freely between steps and make changes on the fly.

Now, simulations can be customized at any stage, making it easier to adapt to customer needs and deliver more accurate, impactful POCs.

As Product Design Lead, I crafted this experience to be intuitive, efficient, and powerful—ensuring even non-technical users could quickly interpret data and make high-impact decisions.

💡 Results Phase – Turning Data into Decisions

In the results phase of the simulation tool, users are empowered to explore and compare all deployed devices directly within the interface. They can:

  • Identify performance issues

  • Define custom thresholds (what’s “good” vs “bad”)

  • Adjust deployment parameters in real time

  • Optimize strategy based on clear, visual feedback

Designed for clarity—users can easily scroll through all devices, compare KPIs side-by-side, and spot outliers instantly.

Users define their own performance thresholds to classify devices as strong, average, or underperforming.

✍️ Design Thinking

I led the entire UX/UI process for this phase—from early research and wireframing to high-fidelity prototyping and usability testing. Key challenges included:

Simplified UX Components
We designed user interface components that are intuitive and easy to use. Dropdown menus, tooltips, and inline help texts guide users through the data entry process, ensuring accuracy and ease of use.

Making interactions feel intuitive, even for first-time users
To support first-time users, I focused on clear visuals, contextual actions, and lightweight guidance—making complex interactions feel intuitive and easy to grasp from the start.

Consistency and Validation
To ensure data integrity, the tool includes validation checks that guide users in entering correct values, reducing errors and rework.

The final result is a tool that bridges the gap between data and decision-making, built for speed, clarity, and confidence.
